Secure Digital Archive
The Secure Archive
ensures the safety of your image and design assets.
We combine proprietary serial numbering, a standardized workflow, and a RAID fileserver to create, track and secure your creative assets.
Standardized Workflow
We have refined a specific, consistent method of handling each and every image that comes out of the camera. It's not a matter of handling thousands of images correctly, but handling one image perfectly, and being able to repeat that process thousands upon thousands of times. Tools like the workstation flow chart (above) ensure that we are consistent, efficient, and secure.
An important part of this workflow is our proprietary serial numbering system, which guarantees that no image will be copied over another, and significantly reduces search time while facilitating the use of unique metadata for each image.
The Digital Original meets RAID technology
For decades, photographers have zealously guarded the mighty "O" (the Original), as any damage to that little piece of film meant disaster. But now, as digital files have become the Original, we have a new challenge:
- How to ensure the safety of something that doesn't physically exist,
- How to prevent the loss of data in a machine that will eventually fail.
At stopphysics, we see this as an opportunity.
While a slide or negative is safe from electronic catastrope, film does degrade and is susceptible to simple disasters such as loss or scratching. Of course, we still zealously guard the film originals we create, but also turn those into a Digital Original. If you damage film, it's done. But with a digital file, a copy is as good as the original. And five copies are even better...
Failure does not mean Disaster.
We know machines fail. So we have invested in RAID technology, which expects failure and is designed to keep failure from equating to disaster. When we store a Digital Original in our archive, it is copied to five separate drives, and regularly backed up with off-site media.
The stopphysics Archive: More Secure than Film.
The stopphysics Digital Original is created unique with its serial number, and then copied redundantly using RAID technology. Any use of the image is based on a copy of that original, which has more than five exact copies elsewhere.
This means you now have swift access to something you can't damage, and which can be easily shared.
